The Stockfish - Engine: It derives from Glaurung (Computer) and is authored by Tord Romstad. Stockfish runs on Linux, Windows or Mac OS X platforms, as well as mobile platforms such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Various installations have supported set-ups such as 8 Gbytes for a hashtable with an 8-core processor under its UCI protocol.

Joona Kiiski, Daylen Yang, Salvo Spitaleri, Jim Ablett and Marco Costalba also helped with the development. It runs bit-boards and alpha-beta search under its open-source license.
