DGT designs, develops, manufactures and globally distributes a wide range of game related products such as digital chess clocks and game timers, electronic boards for chess and draughts, chess computers, and other products and games accessories. In addition DGT supplies a range of products for the general toy and games markets such as chess starter boxes and plastic chess pieces sets.

DGT was established in 1992 under the name DGT Projects by Ben Bulsink (research and development) who had prototyped the first digital clock in 1985 and Albert Vasse (sales and marketing). The company officially registered the following year. In 2007 the company name was changed to Digital Game Technology.

In 2015 Bulsink and Vasse sold the company and Hans Pees took over as the new CEO. Ben Spenkelink became DGT’s head of development.
