Die 4. Online Aktivschach Weltmeisterschaft 2008 fand vom 01. Dezember 2007 bis zum 18. März 2008 statt. Insgesamt 23 Teilnehmer traten mit 32 verschiedenen Geräten in 242 Partien an, um den neuen Champion zu krönen. Am Ende sicherte sich der Resurrection Ruffian den verdienten Weltmeistertitel.
The 4th Online Active Chess World Championship 2008 took place from December 1, 2007, to March 18, 2008. A total of 23 participants competed with 32 different devices in 242 games to crown the new champion. In the end, Resurrection Ruffian secured the well-deserved World Champion title.

Modus / Mode

Die 32 Teilnehmergeräte wurden in acht Vorgruppen mit je vier Geräten eingeteilt. Die beiden ersten jeder Gruppe qualifizierten sich für das Achtelfinale der A-Weltmeisterschaft, Platz 3 und 4 für das Achtelfinale der B-Weltmeisterschaft. Ab dem Achtelfinale wurde das Turnier im K.O.-System ("Best of") ausgetragen.
The 32 participating devices were divided into eight preliminary groups of four devices each. The top two from each group qualified for the Round of 16 of the A-World Championship, while 3rd and 4th place moved to the Round of 16 of the B-World Championship. From the Round of 16 onwards, the tournament was played in a knockout system ("Best of").
